Overview
Coda, a global community of healthcare professionals, holds an annual conference and exhibition to advance clinical education and address global health challenges. For their most recent event, Coda strongly emphasised sustainability, seeking innovative ways to incorporate eco-friendly elements into their exhibition. They aimed to make the event environmentally conscious and engage guests with a fun, interactive experience. That is where Eco Renewable Energy came in – we were tasked with adding a sustainable yet entertaining touch to the event.
Challenge
With sustainability at the forefront of the event, Coda wanted to create a memorable experience that combined learning with fun. They needed an activation that would:
- Reflect their sustainability goals
- Encourage guest interaction
- Bring a unique and enjoyable experience to an otherwise formal event
- Capture guest engagement in a memorable way
- They sought an eco-friendly activation that would resonate with professionals in the healthcare sector, aligning with the event’s focus on education and global health.
Solution
Eco Renewable Energy proposed using Kinetic Energy Floors, which aligns perfectly with Coda’s sustainability focus. These floors generate electricity through movement, allowing guests to contribute directly to the event’s energy needs in an exciting way. But we didn’t stop there – we connected our custom ‘Selfie’ software to the energy floors, transforming the activation into a fun and dynamic photo opportunity.
Here’s how it worked:
Jump and Dance to Generate Energy: Guests were invited to move, jump, and dance on the Kinetic Energy Floors to create energy. Every step they took was transferred into electricity, visualised on a TV screen. As they generated energy, a real-time meter showed their progress.
Countdown to Capture: Once enough energy had been generated, they were ready to take a “Selfie”. The screen displayed a countdown, allowing guests to pose for their photo. A Canon camera, positioned perfectly next to the floors would capture the moment and take a high-quality photo for guests to keep.
Instant Access to Photos: All photos were uploaded to a shared drive, allowing guests to access and download their pictures throughout the event.
This activation encouraged movement and energy generation and also provided guests with a fun memento from the conference. It perfectly balanced professionalism with playfulness, allowing participants to enjoy themselves while learning about sustainable technology.
Results & FeedBack
The response to our Kinetic Energy Floors and ‘Selfie’ activation was overwhelmingly positive. Despite the professional nature of the event, Coda’s guests embraced the opportunity to engage in a fun activity. The installation created a lively atmosphere, with people jumping, dancing, and laughing as they tried to generate enough energy for their group photo.
Some key outcomes included:
High Engagement: majority of the conference guests participated in the activation, generating energy and posing for their photos. Many returned multiple times throughout the event, eager to recreate the experience.
Sustainability in Action: The Kinetic Energy Floors served as an educational tool, demonstrating the potential of renewable energy in a hands-on way. Guests could physically see the energy they were creating and how it powered the camera for their photos.
Conclusion
The coda conference successfully brought together healthcare professionals to discuss and collaborate on pressing global health issues. With the added element of sustainability and fun, provided by Eco Renewable Energy’s Kinetic Energy Floors, the event was memorable.
